Professionals can finish your floors for you, or you can try to do it yourself, which is a difficult task, but can be complemented by most average homeowners. Expect to sand your unfinished oak flooring several times with different grades of sandpaper, fix any broken wood planks, fill holes, stains, if desired and then use multiple layers of sealant (finisher) such as polyurethane.
