Removing a ceiling fan is not usually too difficult. Flush-mounted ceiling fans do not have a rod attached. They sit right next to the roof. This may require obtaining a higher ladder in order to achieve the final mounting bracket of the ceiling fan. If the ceiling fan is removed properly, you can install the fan in another room or sell it if it is still in good condition.
Turn off the fan. Turn off the switch in the switch box of your home to make sure no power is running for the flush mount ceiling fans. Loosen the bulbs, and loosen the screws that hold the light balloons in place. Carefully pull these and put them out of the way. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the lamp in place. Pull down on the accessory to expose the threads. Release the ceiling fan attachment.
